Fine Art- Chameleon Project Part 2- Phoenix

After completing our large scale suitcase drawing we were asked by our lecturer to choose a theme based around the suitcase. I therefore decided for the next stage in my project to look at the theme of moving away from an old life into a new life, and the changes it has on individuals. I decided on the idea of a phoenix and the theme "Transformation" since it is a bird which rises from the ashes of its old life and is reborn. This fits in with the idea of my transformation since I have been at BMET.

I began to construct a design sheet for my phoenix where I looked at how I wanted my design to look .

I did this using layers of washes starting at yellow and then working my way up through the different colours of the phoenix, adding in more detail every time.

Afterwards I noticed that the wings of the Phoenix were too wide for it to be able to take flight, therefore not realistic and something I aim to improve when creating the real thing.
